3RD PLACE FINAL -- Doss 80, Christ Presbyterian 71

The 3rd Place Final paired Louisville's sixth region favorite and 10th ranked Doss (7-1) against two-time tournament champion Christ Presbyterian (9-3). It was all Christ Presbyterian in the fast paced opening quarter of play as Braxton Blackwell scored 10 first quarter points to lead CPA to a 28-21 lead. Doss then scored eleven unanswered points to push the Dragons ahead 32-28 just two minutes into the second quarter. The Dragons lead grew to as many as six points midway through the quarter before a late run by the Lions pulled the score even at 40-40 going into halftime. Doss had their foot on the gas early in the second half going on an 8-0 run. Tyger Cambell's layup at the buzzer pulled CPA back to within three points going into the final quarter. The Dragons slowly pulled away taking advantage of CPA turnovers to lead 70-63 midway through the final quarter. With three minutes remaining in the game CPA 8th grader Tyger Campbell went down to an injury with Doss leading 71-64 and the Lions never recovered. Doss held on to clinch the 80-71 victory for third place in the tournament. The win marked the third time the Dragons have finished Third Place in the King of the Bluegrass.

Doss had six players score in double digits Nick Anderson's 16 points led the way with Dajon McCarley adding 13 points, Dujuanta Weaver and Terell gray adding 12 points and Jaylon Hall and Ramon Collins scoring 10 points. Christ Presbyterian was led by University of Louisville target Braxton Blackwell with 27 points and 9 rebounds. Tyger Campbell added 17 points and Micah Davis added 15 points.

SEMIFINAL -- St. John's 54, Christ Presbyterian 52

In a rare all out-of-state semifinal it was the Cadets of St. John's (6-2) that put the first blemish on Christ Presbyterian's (9-2) record at the King of the Bluegrass. The two teams were a combined 15-1 all-time in tournament play coming into tonight's semifinal.

The opening quarter of the game was a defensive battle with the two teams shooting a combined 5-of-20 from the field and turning the ball over five times. A 9-3 run, including a pair of Jeffrey Dowtin 3-point goals, gave St. John's a five point lead in the opening minutes of the second quarter. Dowtin's third three-pointer of the quarter pushed the Cadets lead to the largest of the half at nine points. Christ Presbyterian 8th grader Tyger Campbell scored five of the final seven points of the half to pull CPA back within 24-22 at the half.

The Lions tied the ball game in the opening seconds of the second half but it was four CPA turnovers that led to an 11-2 run by St. John's that nearly gave the Cadets a double digit lead. Christ Presbyterian used back-to-back three-pointers by Campbell and Micah Davis with 4:57 remaining to take the lead for the first time in the half. The teams exchanged the leads twice before Anthony Cowan Jr's free throw tied the game at 49-49 with 1:33 remaining. Tyger Cambell hit the first of two free throws to give CPA a one point lead. Braxton Blackwell pushed the CPA's lead to three points with 21 seconds remaining nailing a pair of free throws. It was Cowan's long distance 3-pointer with 7 seconds remaining that tied that game and electrified the crowd. Matas Budrys' steal and Jeffrey Dowtin layup at the buzzer put the Cadets into their first tournament championship with a 54-52 lead.

Christ Presbyterian was led by Tyger Campbell's 18 points and Braxton Blackwell's 16 point, 12 rebound double-double. Micah Davis added 11 points for the Lions. Jeffrey Dowtin led St. John's with 18 points, including the game winner, and Matas Budrys and Anthony Cowan each added 13 points for the Cadets.

QUARTERFINAL -- Christ Presbyterian 44, South Shore 41

The Lions of Christ Presbyterian (9-1) moved to 10-0 all-time in the King of the Bluegrass with their quarterfinal win over Brooklyn's South Shore (4-4). The early battle between out-of-state opponents saw CPA have to overcome an eight point second half deficit.

The Lions of Nashville, TN jumped out to a quick 7-2 lead in the opening two minutes of play. South Shore responded with a seven point turnaround with Cheyenne Nettleton's basket tying the game at 11-11 with a minute remaining in the opening quarter. The South Shore defense blanketed CPA in the second quarter holding the Lions to just four points on 1/10 shooting. The Vikings turnaround sent them to the locker room with a 19-15 lead.

The Lions charge back in the opening minutes of the second half with Micah Davis' 3-pointer midway through the quarter pulling CPA within 26-24. South Shore hit a pair of outside shots by Nettleton and Nick Simeon to push ahead 32-26 at going into the final quarter. CPA junior Braxton Blackwell scored six straight for the Lions as they tied the game for the fourth time with five minutes remaining in play. A dunk by Blackwell put CPA ahead for good with two minutes remaining in play. Christ Presbyterian hit just five-of-ten free throws in the closing minute but held of the Vikings charge which never got closer than three points.

CPA junior Braxton Blackwell, who just picked up a scholarship offer from the University of Louisville, led all scorers with 28 points and Micah Davis added 11 points for the Lions. South Shore was led by Ryan Preston's 18 points and 14 rebounds and Nick Simeon added 12 points for the Vikings.
