TRINITY 66, FERN CREEK 63

Our second quarterfinal of the evening featured a top-ten matchup of regional favorites with No. 2 Trinity (6-1) slipping past No. 8 Fern Creek (7-1). A 5-0 spurt for Fern Creek got the action started. Trinty rallied to tie the score at 5-5 before the two teams battle back-and-forth swapping the lead twice over the next four minutes of play. It was a three-pointer by Jayden Scrubb that finally put Trinity back on top 12-10 at the quarter break. The second quarter featured much of the same action with the two teams swapping the lead over the first two minutes before an Anthony Wales layup midway through the quarter tied the game at 22-22. The final four minutes of the half saw the teams swap the lead four times with three ties before a pair of free throws by David Johnson put Trinity back ahead 29-28 going into halftime.

The second half opened with a lightning pace with the two teams exchanging the lead four times in the first three minutes of action. It was a three-pointer by David Johnson that finally put Trinity back ahead for good at 35-32. A Trinity lead that grew to four points withered away as Fern Creek tied the game at 40-40 but the Tigers could never take the lead. A 6-1 Trinity run ended the quarter with the Shamrocks ahead 46-41. The Trinity lead continued to grow in the fourth quarter as they pieced together a 7-2 run to take a 55-46 lead. The Tiger just would go away slowly grinding away at the Shamrocks lead until Anthony Wales and Clint Wickliffe nailed back-to-back three-pointers in the final minute to cut the Trinity lead to 64-63. Lukas Burkman connected on a pair of free throws to put the game away and give the Shamrocks the 66-63 victory.

David Johnson led the way for the Shamrocks with a 19 point, 9 rebound game and the duo of LJ Harris and Jayden Scrubb each added 15 points. Fern Creek was led by Anthony Wales and Clint Wickliffe with 16 points each and Chance Moore's 13 points.
