LEXINGTON CHRISTIAN 65, MERCER COUNTY 50

In our only all Kentucky match up of the evening it was No. 6 Lexington Christian who advanced to the quarterfinals over No. 17 Mercer County. The Eagles used an early 12-5 run to take solid control in the opening quarter of the match up. Mercer County's defense held the Eagles scoreless for the final three minutes of the quarter though pulling the Titans within 12-8 at the quarter break. A pair of three-pointers by Trevon Faulkner got Mercer County as close as 3 points before Lexington Christian stormed ahead with a 12-2 run to take a 29-16 at the half. The Lexington Christian lead grew to a game-high 18 points midway through the third quarter. Faulkner scored nine straight to end the third quarter shrinking the Lexington Christian lead to 40-31. His next bucket less than a minute into the fourth quarter pulled the Titans within five points. Mercer County never got any close though as Lexington Christian's 12-5 run put the Eagles in control at 52-40 midway through the final quarter. Lexington Christian cruised to the 65-50 victory. The Eagles were led by Austin Hall's 17 points and Carter Hendrickson's double-double performance of 16 points and 12 rebounds. Northern Kentucky signee Trevon Faulkner led Mercer County with a dominant performance scoring 36 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
