Kentucky's 3rd ranked Covington Catholic advanced to the quarterfinals with an impressive victory over Tennessee power Ensworth of Nashville. The Colonels got off to a fast start jumping ahead 21-6 at the end of the opening quarter of play. Ensworth was crippled by sub-par shooting in the opening half as they connected on just 25% of their shots and trailed 41-21 at the half. The balanced attack by the Colonels saw their lead continue to grow in the second has they pushed ahead by a game-high 28 points at 71-43 late in the third quarter. With the Covington Catholic reserves in the game the Tigers were finally able to get some momentum going in the fourth quarter and hold steady with the Colonels but fell by a final margin of 84-59. The state's top ranked senior and Iowa signee CJ Fredrick led Covington Catholic in scoring with a game-high 20 points. Aiden Ruthsatz, Nick Thelen and AJ Mayer each added double digits for the Colonels. Ensworth was led by Jaylan Clemmons' 16 points.
