TRINITY 59, LEXINGTON CHRISTIAN 48

The final quarterfinal match up of the evening featured No. 1 Trinity taking on No. 6 Lexington Christian. The defending King of the Bluegrass Champions Shamrocks found themselves in a battle in the early minutes of the game swapping the lead three times before Trinity found a rhythm with a 13-3 run. Lexington Christian countered with their own 7-0 run in the closing minutes of the quarter but it was Trinity ahead 20-15 at the quarter break. The Eagles looked to make their run early in the second quarter cutting the lead to just two points but Trinity kept themselves in control with a trio of three-pointers including a pair by Justin Powell that gave Trinity a 38-29 lead at the half. Poor shooting plagues both teams in the third quarter as they combined to make just 9 of 28 shots but the stingy Rocks defense helped them extend their lead to as many as 13 points with three minutes remaining in the quarter. The fourth quarter wasn't any friendlier to the Eagles who connected on just three field goals and never got any closer than nine points. Trinity advanced to their sixth King of the Bluegrass semifinal in school history with the 59-48 victory. Trinity was led by Jay Scrubb with 21 points and David Johnson with 12 points. Austin Hall led Lexington Christian with a game-high 22 points and 8 rebounds.
