TRINITY 90, ANDERSON COUNTY 54

Defending King of the Bluegrass Champions Trinity advanced to the quarterfinals with a dominant performance in their opener against 25th ranked Anderson County. Kentucky's top ranked Shamrocks wasted no time flexing their muscles taking a 30-13 lead at the first quarter break. The Trinity lead continued to grow as the led 50-31 at the half. A third quarter run saw Trinity lead 76-44 heading into the last quarter. The Bearcats could never get any closer as Trinity pushed to a game-high 38 point lead in the final minutes clinching the victory 90-54. The Shamrocks were dominant on the boards out-rebounding the Bearcats 40-18 leading to 22 second-chance points. Trinity had 5 players in double digits led by 2016 Tournament Most Valuable Player David Johnson with 21 points. Justin Powell added 15 points for the Shamrocks and Ethan Hodge and Jay Scrubb each added 13 points. Anderson County was led by senior Cobe Penny with a game-high 34 points.
