Covington Catholic 82, Fairdale 50

The No.3 Colonels of Covington Catholic jumped on the host Bulldogs and never looked back in route to an 82-50 victory and berth in the semifinals. Seven straight points by Evan Ipsaro midway through the opening quarter extended the Colonels lead to 19-4. Fairdale would never get any closer. Fairdale used a 6-0 run early in the second quarter to keep the lead at 16 points trailing 16-32. Ipsaro and Mekhi Wilson combined for 12 of the next 14 points for Covington Catholic whose lead grew to as many as 26 points late in the first half. Fairdale never got closer than 24 points for the remainder of the game with the Colonels lead swelling to as many as 37 points. A late 10-5 run by the Bulldogs cut the final margin to 50-82. 

Central Bank Player of the Game Evan Ipsaro led all scorers with 27 points and a game-high 9 assists for the Colonels. Mitchell Rylee added 21 points for Covington Catholic. Dalton Hicks led Fairdale in scoring with 16 points and 5 steals. Jacob Tucker added 13 points for the Bulldogs.

Covington Catholic advances to Monday's semifinals to take on the winner of Ashland Blazer vs. Male at 7:30pm. Fairdale will play the loser of Ashland Blazer vs. Male at 6:00pm on Monday in the consolation bracket.
