Covington Catholic 68, Trinity 51

Trinity finds themselves in unfamiliar territory after falling 51-68 to No. 3 Covington Catholic in their KOB opener. The Shamrocks who had advanced to four of the last five KOB semifinals kept things close early with a trio of three-point buckets, but Covington Catholic opened the second quarter on a 9-1 run to gain control of the game. The second half of the game saw Covington Catholic firmly in control with their lead ballooning to as many as 20 points. The Colonels defense forced the Shamrocks in 19 turnovers in the game. 

The duo of Evan Ipsaro and Kascyl McGillis led the way for Covington Catholic with 21 points each. Mitchell Rylee added a double-double for the Colonels with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Cameron McClain led Trinity with 15 points. 

Covington Catholic will advance to Sunday's quarterfinals to take on host Fairdale at 6:00pm. Trinity will take on Marion County at 6:00pm Sunday in the consolation bracket.
